Here is what our staff writer Davina got up to this weekend:

Flowers by Jokah on Thursdays at Den Social was an unexpectedly wholesome night at one of K-Town’s mainstay nightclubs. Jokah, Den Social’s resident DJ, prepped individual bouquets for ladies in town that night. Music was popping, DJs mixing hip-hop, RnB, bass house, trap EDM, baile funk and jersey beat. As a mentee of Jokah’s and a local DJ, I received warm invitations from a crowd notorious for their intimidatingly cool aura. I recall my early college years at Den Social: messy, blacked-out nights while being absolutely nervous in line as I’m being vibe-checked and judged for my outfit choices by my table group I met only a few hours prior. Definitely a different vibe now - hello’s, how are you’s, it’s been a while, it’s nice to meet you - with a beautiful, pink rose in my hand. Though I certainly blacked out that night regardless. Jokah’s curation created an inviting, femme-friendly atmosphere for friends, regulars, and new clubbers. With headliners, setlists, and a crowd more diverse than ever, Flowers by Jokah was an undeniably good time with good vibes.

2. Thursdays are casual Open Decks- at Jade

   Thu, 4/16, 10pm:12:30 am, FREE!

   Each selected DJ gets a 15-minute set to show their taste, flow, and ability to move a room.
   
   At the end of the night, our hosts will invite one standout back up for a bonus 30-minute set.

3. Open Decks, Open House - at The House

   Thu, 4/16, 9pm - 1 am

   Music: 135+bpm (Trance, Psytrance, Techno, DnB, Dubstep, etc)

1. DANCE… - Slayyyter

   A rising start in the techno space, you might know her for her hit Beat Up Chanels. She released her album right before Coachella and her performances were straight up amazing.

2. Campeon - Zulan

   Zulan is an Argentinian DJ that plays energetic sets inspired by garage and ukg. I heard she’s an industry plant but what does that word even mean?

3. Someone Else - Rezz

   Rezz is a Ukrainian- Canadian DJ that Rezz pulled out of their weekend 2 Coachella set for health reasons. Props to him for sticking to his guns. It’s hard for an upcoming artist to prioritize themselves over the sudden recognition of their work.

4. I remember - Kaskade

   John Summit ruined this song with his remix. TALK TO THE WALL.
